It's the most wonderful time of year

Electrified citra hops with ripened melon sewn into orange rind and charged peach peels

Saint Arnold is King of the Pumpkin Beer (Prior King: Elysian 1996-2015. Long live Dick Cantwell)

2011 was the first year it was brewed seasonally after being part of their Divine Reserve series a couple years prior.  My pulpy memory still remembers it was the huge hit at the 2011 Great Pumpkin Beer Festival

twisting and turning with you

                                          Best. Band. Ever.

...so is the way of forever...
creamed pine cones, fruited peach roots, cidered mango salts... are those even things?

Harvestous Mutation

Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale is all things pumpkin pie spice and just in time for the autumnal equinox. 5.7%.

Hazardous Mutation is necessary for any Halloween party mix. This mother's strong.

“I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.” ― Thoreau

August

Dax Riggs, Pumpkin beers hitting the shelves, and Fremont Brewing cans available like water.

August starts off with a bang and hopefully ends with a kitty getting back to his manic self.

I hear seeds of an old pumpkin creakin'.

A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Snail

Lagunitas brews beers that are hazed and hopped.

Chambered spiced apricots.  Missiled citrus, torpedoed tangerine, and balsamic banana bombs.

Muzzled honey with a cannoned candy finish. 7.5%.

Snail's Blood is a riff DeLorean that will bring yours ears and mind back to the future of 90's Seattle.

When gas was under a buck, Congress and nosy sports writers hadn't ruined baseball yet, and William Pickard was tabbing third eye soundtracks.

June Doom

The best establishment to kick off a long vacation with the little lady is Brouwer's.

Delightful and bountiful.

We also gave the Burgundian, a whirl. It has the ingenious idea of serving the best meal of the day,all day long.

Olde Bluehair vs. Adam.
I'm not an advocate of televisions in bars but Kids in the Hall on loop could work while imbibing in beercentric abodes.

There were only two places anyone in Seattle needed to be on June 9, 2012.

The first was last call at Fremont Brewing.

The second was at Studio Seven for The Gates of Slumber, Hailhornet, and Church of Misery.

The multi group encore of Saint Vitus's War is our Destiny ruled.

My initial impression of Brad's Swingside Cafe was insincerity coupled with mulishness (Possibly, the most negative thing I've written on here).

However, despite even that, the restaurant vibe and the food/wine were amazing.

I'll be back even if they tried to ban me.

Winding out a long weekend at Chinook Pass.

Parabola + Graveyard

Parabola is pretty much impossible to hold for more then a day or two.

Buttered bourbon and ash cured currants.  Velvet vanilla with smoked caramel and charred marshmallow berry oil.  12.5%.

Graveyard's Hisingen Blues is not meant for those with dainty cerebellums, postures, or ill refined sensibilities.

Music built for '64 Pontiac Charger GTO's and unconventional mustaches.  Or in the alternative, for heavy presses and equally heavy drinking.

Dusty and sinister analog space rockets of blazing head knotted gloom that's sure to liven up the party.

4/28/12

SIRS + COM

The only time I went to San Diego's Stone Brewing I ordered an iced tea.

Burnt molasses, roasted figs, layered smoke.

Velvet toffee with a pineappled fudge. Creamed cocoa and grapefruit laced leather. 10.5%.

Japan's Church of Misery have been swinging from the banister with voracious 70's inspired riffing for a decade plus.

Their running theme may rightfully offend most people but still a must for fans of any combination of the following:  muscle cars, beer, Halloween, firearms, colored lights, true crime, carnivals, ear ringing, breathing.

Atominable

Bourbon Barrel Aged Abominable is my favorite brew of all time.

The best beer west of the Mississippi, the Mighty Mississip, the Old Miss, the Old Man.... Deep River...

Vanilla, bourbon, caramel, smoke, candy.  9.5%.

Atomic Bitchwax's 1999 self titled rules, unless your cranium is square shaped.

Torquing riffs forged from equal parts bong resin and 455 SD horsepower.

Snow Day II

Snow Day Winter Ale from New Belgium Brewing is appropriate for today's mid week Snow Day.

Wisps of silk caramel spiced wheat dustings melting off conifer needles.  Subtle flavors make a perfect snow cone.  6.2%.

Arik Roper artwork albums.

Dopesmoker: Proceed the Weedian.

Amerijuanican: Opiumatic Riffs.

Mammatus: Tuned In, Dropped.

Replenishing a free day off with one of the top films of all time.

Honor, glory, and fine chicks.

Thanks to Em for the dvd and shirt.

Why don't you take a little inventory on what we got going for us?

Acid King - Busse Woods (1999)

2nd album from the 2nd best band with "acid" in their name.

Drowned in spaced grooves & enough cubes of syrupy hypnosis to massage your fourth eye.

Thrown back into the 70's and out the other end of the 23rd century.

1. Electric Machine
2. Silent Circle
3. Drive Fast, Take Chances

They're Coming to Get You

Removing Halloween decorations requires style.

McAuslan Brewing's  is from Montréal.  St-Ambroise Pumpkin (Citrouille) is caramelized ginger and cream soaked pumpkin shavings.  5%

Oakland's Ghoul are unscrupulous charlatans.

They'll lure you into their van with poisoned candied riffs, lye coated bass, and vocals gargled in razor blade laced taffy apples.

Halloween III: Complete Original Motion Picture Score (1982)

Halloween III: Season of the Witch is a movie watching tradition.

Those with discerning tastes recognize it's superiority in the series as Tom Atkins leads the charge.

John Carpenter and Alan Howarth improvised this eerie score and recorded live to tape while watching the movie.

25 peculiarly minimalistic tracks that harvest Samhainian warmth and full moon soundscapes.  Deranged meditative atmosphere that fills the mind with maize, melted pumpkin, and menace.

                            9 more days till Pumpkinfest...

Happy Labor Day

Voo Doo is heaps of chocolate-coffee-coconut relics possessed with a pin prickle finish. 8.5%.

Howlin' Wolf is frothing lycanthropic hallowed blues and Gustav Holst is a civilized sci-fi soundtrack for the time travelled alchonaut.

San Clemente is where I discovered fish tacos, landed pier side kickflips, & celebrated the Millennium.

8/21/11

It's That Time of Year, Finally

The best time of year is upon us and the only way to kick it off properly is with the first of many Elysian Night Owl's.

Pumpkin pie with a burnt nutmeg crust.  Creamy ginger with a cinnamon coated hops finish.  5.9%.

Goatwhore from the second best gulf coast state, Louisiana, has Sammy from Acid Bath.

Their debut is a great start to the millennium with riffs by one of the best guitarists ever and vocals by one of the most underrated.

The clock is ticking, it's almost time.  1,698 hrs until Halloween.

Invert the Feline.

RIP Nikon Camera From 2007.  Welcome New Fuji.
