A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Snail

Lagunitas brews beers that are hazed and hopped.

Chambered spiced apricots.  Missiled citrus, torpedoed tangerine, and balsamic banana bombs.

Muzzled honey with a cannoned candy finish. 7.5%.

Snail's Blood is a riff DeLorean that will bring yours ears and mind back to the future of 90's Seattle.

When gas was under a buck, Congress and nosy sports writers hadn't ruined baseball yet, and William Pickard was tabbing third eye soundtracks.

June Doom

The best establishment to kick off a long vacation with the little lady is Brouwer's.

Delightful and bountiful.

We also gave the Burgundian, a whirl. It has the ingenious idea of serving the best meal of the day,all day long.

Olde Bluehair vs. Adam.
I'm not an advocate of televisions in bars but Kids in the Hall on loop could work while imbibing in beercentric abodes.

There were only two places anyone in Seattle needed to be on June 9, 2012.

The first was last call at Fremont Brewing.

The second was at Studio Seven for The Gates of Slumber, Hailhornet, and Church of Misery.

The multi group encore of Saint Vitus's War is our Destiny ruled.

My initial impression of Brad's Swingside Cafe was insincerity coupled with mulishness (Possibly, the most negative thing I've written on here).

However, despite even that, the restaurant vibe and the food/wine were amazing.

I'll be back even if they tried to ban me.

Winding out a long weekend at Chinook Pass.

Parabola + Graveyard

Parabola is pretty much impossible to hold for more then a day or two.

Buttered bourbon and ash cured currants.  Velvet vanilla with smoked caramel and charred marshmallow berry oil.  12.5%.

Graveyard's Hisingen Blues is not meant for those with dainty cerebellums, postures, or ill refined sensibilities.

Music built for '64 Pontiac Charger GTO's and unconventional mustaches.  Or in the alternative, for heavy presses and equally heavy drinking.

Dusty and sinister analog space rockets of blazing head knotted gloom that's sure to liven up the party.

5/23/12

Labyrinth Black Ale - Uinta Brewing Company

I kept walking past Labyrinth in the store, which was a huge mistake.

Maple brown sugar and vanilla charred bourbon ham glaze.

Warm chicory cocoa and smoked rye butter. Sweetened raisin and brandy molasses.

Lemon licorice finish that warms into caramel sourdough.  13.2%.

If this was an IPO the price won't rip you off.

Mouthfurr of Sid

Bottleworks is a great bottle shop located in my equally great neighborhood.

Ashen pine & rye coffee.  Smoked citrus crackers.

Chewy caramel roasted peaches.  11.4%.

Reagonomics killing me.....

SIRS + COM

The only time I went to San Diego's Stone Brewing I ordered an iced tea.

Burnt molasses, roasted figs, layered smoke.

Velvet toffee with a pineappled fudge. Creamed cocoa and grapefruit laced leather. 10.5%.

Japan's Church of Misery have been swinging from the banister with voracious 70's inspired riffing for a decade plus.

Their running theme may rightfully offend most people but still a must for fans of any combination of the following:  muscle cars, beer, Halloween, firearms, colored lights, true crime, carnivals, ear ringing, breathing.

Atominable

Bourbon Barrel Aged Abominable is my favorite brew of all time.

The best beer west of the Mississippi, the Mighty Mississip, the Old Miss, the Old Man.... Deep River...

Vanilla, bourbon, caramel, smoke, candy.  9.5%.

Atomic Bitchwax's 1999 self titled rules, unless your cranium is square shaped.

Torquing riffs forged from equal parts bong resin and 455 SD horsepower.

Alaskan Smoked Porter - Alaskan Brewing Co.

Been smoking too long.

Snow Day II

Snow Day Winter Ale from New Belgium Brewing is appropriate for today's mid week Snow Day.

Wisps of silk caramel spiced wheat dustings melting off conifer needles.  Subtle flavors make a perfect snow cone.  6.2%.

Arik Roper artwork albums.

Dopesmoker: Proceed the Weedian.

Amerijuanican: Opiumatic Riffs.

Mammatus: Tuned In, Dropped.

Replenishing a free day off with one of the top films of all time.

Honor, glory, and fine chicks.

Thanks to Em for the dvd and shirt.

Why don't you take a little inventory on what we got going for us?

Espresso Oak Aged Yeti - Great Divide Brewing

Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout from, one Denver's countless breweries, Great Divide.

Smokey sweet cocoa cream with charred coffee beans and a crema topping.  Sticky peppered vanilla and chicory finish.  9.5%.

Post gym recovery and pick me up (for snow days only).

This ain't no St. Helen's Malted Ale.

Pumpkin Festivus

An epic holiday season filled with family, friends, and finer things is replaying, like The Christmas Story on TBS, in some hazy parallel universe.

After stock piling pumpkin beers the first annual Eve of Christmas Eve pumpkin beer gathering was held.  Kick, Stingy Jack, Heavenly Pumpkin, Pumpkinator, Pumking, Oak Jacked, Dark 'o the Moon, Post Road Pumpkin, TREAT, and Pumpkin Cider were the conspirators.

Bourbon Abominable from Fremont Brewery was a well received accomplice.

My personal highlights were the homemade pumpkin beer bread and the homemade IPA contributed by two gentlemen.

A fine way to introduce the dreadful (hair, not attitude) little lady to the Lone Star State.  Next year is more pumpkin and multiple bourbon barrel aged beers.

Krampus - Southern Tier Brewing

Southern Tier makes beer that should be tested for performance enhancing substances.

Aromas of breaded yeast and spent fireworks.

Apple zest with spiced peaches and prickling carbonation coated in a grapefruit finish.  9%.

What's a movie to watch while consuming this beer? Santa's Slay.

Acid King - Busse Woods (1999)

2nd album from the 2nd best band with "acid" in their name.

Drowned in spaced grooves & enough cubes of syrupy hypnosis to massage your fourth eye.

Thrown back into the 70's and out the other end of the 23rd century.

Hale's is a quality local brewing establishment.  Their winter seasonal was first brewed in 1985.

Aged for 6 months in Kentucky oak barrels.  Buttered sweet cream with breaded caramel scotch candy.

Roasted bourbon with vanilla toffee and a slight citrus finish. 7.2%.

12/6/11

He'Brew Genesis 15:15 - Shmaltz Brewing Company

I distinctly remember the first time I saw a beer from this brewery at the Wholesome Choice in Irvine, CA.

Sugary whiskey grape butter with rich pomegranate brandy.

Figs melted in plum fried toffee pie, sweet pecan rye bread, and creamy raisin bourbon.  13.4%.

Barleywines are to beer as lions are to cats.
